| Nobody ever said that
building your own drag truck was easy. In fact, the thought of trashing
the project came to mind many times; Maybe they wereright... I should
have bought someone elses finished drag car that they had to sacrifice
for a fraction of the price; however, what I have learned through
this process is invaluable. I know first hand how every component
functions and how all the systems correllate with one another. Anyways,
after another thorough (2) year renovation, we are definitely back
into the scene. This page is dedicated to everything we've been through
from 1999 to now. The entire history is documented in the Photos section
and don't forget to check out the Videos as well... Enjoy!!

We went to the track ready and willing to bring the truck down into
the mid 8's. Changes which were made before we left were as follows:
electric vacuum pump was removed and both valve covers were vented
to the breather tank, Nitrous Big shot plate and nitrous solenoid
were installed, launch RPM was raised to 5,200, shit point was raised
to 7,500, and a fuel log was installed with a fuel regulator to
the carb and a regulator to the nitrous fuel solenoid. All systems
were tested before we left for the track.
We made the first pass on a 190 HP shot of
nitrous and it was 8.59 at 156 mph... which is a new record! I was
going to the 275 HP shot next when they pulled me from the track
for what appeared to be a few drops of oil on the track. We are
investigating.

We took the truck to Budd's Creek, Maryland and made (2) passes.
The first pass was only on the motor and was in the 9's. The second
pass was a 250 HP shot of nitrous and we ran a 8.85 at 151 mph.
Check the videos section for the video and the Racing section on
the Photo page for the time slips and other photos.

The truck came back home this past Saturday. I spent Saturday afternoon
cleaning out the engine compartment, interior, and the rear fuel
cell area below the removable panels. Christopher helped me install
the headers. From there, I removed the float bowls and cleaned the
carburater. I then connected the battery and tested each of the
systems to include the water pump, cooling fan, fuel pump, vacuum
pump, transbrake, and line lock. I still need to test the shiftnoid
and nitrous system but the others tested fine. From there, i rotated
the engine over without the ignition system to circulate the oil,
turn on the ignition, and the truck started right up... after sitting
for almost (2) years straight! The last thing I need to do is check
the torque on a bunch of the bolts, check fluids, and we are off
to the track! Stay tuned America!
22NOV10 We are nearing completion on the truck this time around. The truck has been at Performance Fabricators for 17 months now and we are looking at having the truck back home this weekend. Stay tuned for new updates and photos of the truck as all the body work, paint, and fabrication will have been completed. In the meantime, I have been working on my 1983 Mini Cooper. Photos can be found in the photo gallery.
29JUL09 Lets
just say that on 29MAY09 the truck underwent an unfortunate series
of events. I was a bit rushed that day, didn't stop to really pay
attention to what was important that day, and set the truck up as
it was last in Maryland. With that said, I launched at 5,000 RPM
with a 250 HP shot of Nitrous and immediately lost traction at Northeast
Dragway. From there, only the videos and pictures do it justice.
I've added pictures in the Fabrication history
section for 2009 to document where we are now. I added it in that
section since it is like rebuilding the truck again. I'll make sure
to document everything as much as I can so stay tuned!
04MAY09 We went to Maryland
International Raceway (www.MIRDrag.com) on Friday and Saturday.
We got there a little later than I wanted to on Friday afternoon
but it was ok. A lot of people did not show because of the weather.
Right after I did my tech inspection, it rained so we had a couple
hour delay to getting started with the test and tune.
I think after the first or second run, I noticed a noise coming from the transmission area. It turned out that the flexplate bolts had come loose. I was up until 0130 getting those re-tightened... no locktite!! I also had (2) wires come undone and one was for the transbrake!!
So, on Saturday morning, after the furst run a guy told me the passenger rear tire waas smoking. Turns out, as the tire grew, it was rubbing in the fender!! I had a couple guys help me raise the truck by 1.5-2 inches in ride height to take that into account. The first launch after that change was very interesting as the drivers tire now lifts into the air. We will be working to dial in the suspension but we now have an all time best of 8.86 at 149 mph!! Stay tuned ;)
